S.S.D. Casarano Calcio is an Italian association football club located in Casarano, Apulia. It currently plays in Serie D Apulia.

History

The club was founded in 1927 playing also in Serie C1 for 20 seasons. In the season 2001–2002 Mario Kempes, the world famous Argentina striker, was the head coach of S.S.D. Casarano Calcio.

The club was refounded in 2006 as A.S.D. Virtus Casarano, but in summer 2012 it does not join in Serie D, due to bankruptcy.

Immediately after on 24 July 2012, the club was again refounded by Eugenio Filograna as S.S.D. Casarano Calcio and was relocated in Promozione Apulia.

SSD Casarano Calcio jest włoskim klubem piłkarskim z siedzibą w mieście Casarano w regionie Apulia. Club został założony w 1927 roku i obecnie występuje w Serie D, czwartym poziomie włoskiego systemu ligowego. Stadionem klubu jest Stadio Giuseppe Capozza, który może pomieścić 5 000 widzów.

Największym sukcesem klubu jest awans do Serie C1 w sezonie 1966/67, gdzie występował przez dwa sezony. Casarano Calcio ma również na swoim koncie kilka zwycięstw w lokalnych rozgrywkach Pucharu Włoch dla amatorów.

W ostatnich latach klub zmagał się z problemami finansowymi i administracyjnymi. W 2018 roku został zdegradowany do Eccellenzy, piątego poziomu włoskiego systemu ligowego, a następnie do Promozione, szóstego poziomu. Jednak w sezonie 2022/23 Casarano Calcio powróciło do Serie D.

Głównymi rywalami Casarano Calcio są inne kluby z regionu Apulia, takie jak US Lecce, US Virtus Francavilla Calcio i Taranto FC 1927.
